Fiber Fringe Projector

TuSense’s fiber fringe projector is a compact, fiber-delivered, interferometric fringe projection device, capable of projecting well-defined laser interferometric fringes onto targets at an arbitary distance from a small fiber-sized aperture without a defocusing or blurring issue. The illumination area (with a fixed number of fringes) can be easily adjustable, simply by changing the distance between the projector head and an object to be illuminated. It can be an ideal light source for high-resolution machine vision applications based on triangulation 3D imaging technology, enabling endoscopic 3D imaging of objects covered by a mechanical enclosure/container or biological tissues, throght a combination use of an endoscopic camera.  Its narrow-band illumination spectrum allows effective 3D imaging operation under bright ambient illumination, eliminating ambient light interference by using a narrow-band spectral filter. Operation wavelength can be selected in the most sensitive spectral region of commercial CMOS image sensors. Illumination timing can be controlled by a user-defined external trigger signal in a sub-microsecond precision.  The projected fringes can optionally be phase-modulated piezo-electrically, enabling various phase shifting algorithms for 3D imaging. It can potentially be used for a variety of applications, including automobile manufacturing, medical imaging, process monitoring for electronics assembly/packaging.
